Composite sticking to the attachment template on removal

Composite sticking to the attachment template on removal

This is almost always flowable composite used on its own, or overcuring. Switch to a heavier composite and use the layering technique.

What to change

  1. Switch to a heavily filled composite.
  2. Use the layering technique: a flowable base in the window, then pack heavier composite on top.
  3. Remove the template slowly from the distal end, applying even pressure. Do not jerk or flex it.

Important: Never cut the template to make removal easier. It moves the attachment positions and causes tracking failure.
