Recommended composite material for attachment placement

Recommended composite material for attachment placement

Use a heavily filled composite in a translucent shade. Flowable composite on its own has too little body, is difficult to control, produces flash and sticks to the template on removal.

Materials

  • 3M Filtek Bulk Fill or Filtek Supreme in a translucent shade.
  • GC injectable, which is highly filled and behaves similarly.

Technique

Place a small amount of flowable composite into the base of the attachment window first, then pack heavier composite over the top.

Important: Avoid using flowable composite on its own. It is the usual cause of composite sticking to the template.
