Straight cut or scalloped aligners: which should I choose?

Straight cut or scalloped aligners: which should I choose?

Scalloped is the default recommendation and is more comfortable for most patients. Straight cut maximises force expression and is the better choice where you need torque and root control.

The two options

  • Straight cut, finishing around 2mm above the gingival margin: maximises surface area for tooth control and improves root control and torque expression.
  • Semi-scalloped, following the gingival contour: more comfortable, particularly for patients with gingival sensitivity.

Specify your preference in the Prescription notes when you submit the case.
